Ceramics, pigments, 2020

In this series of ceramic “tablets,” I attempted to condense the experiences of victims of violence into an A4 format — much like what women must do when they go to the police to seek protection from their abusers: they describe the pain and humiliation they have endured in dry, matter-of-fact terms on sheets of A4 paper. But most of these statements lead nowhere — they remain uninvestigated.

In the year leading up to the creation of this work, the Kazakhstani police received more than 190,000 reports of domestic violence, but only a quarter of them went to court, and only about 3,000 women were able to secure a place in shelters.

The work was exhibited in 2020 at the Artmeken Gallery as part of a series of exhibitions on human rights.

In 2025, the work received the Bubikanova Art Prize 2.0. and is now part of the collection at the Kasteev Museum
